A
claim was made that a vehicle containing an Active Autowerke ECU tune
lost 18whp compared to stock. Another claim was made that
Powerchip "custom tune" software made approximately 40whp compared to
Active Autowerke. The car forum thread discussing this topic was
filled with questions and accusations. Most notable, there seemed
to be inconsistencies with testing methods and questions about how
accurately or "scientifically" they were conducted. The vendor
claimed he would immediately provide ample pictures and documentation to
alleviate fears of dyno manipulation. But in spite of numerous
requests and many weeks later, no proof was ever offered.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296406Therefore the methods used in this dyno test
must be considered suspect. Vendor claimed to have done tests in
scientific manner and would provide explanation. No explanation was ever
proffered, and results are still in questions. |

Five
years in hindsight, we know 40whp gain from a tune is false. Over
the years, many such claims have been made, but none of them have held
up to independent testing and evaluation. For that reason alone,
this Dyno Database entry should be considered invalid. |
